GameBoy Development for Sobriety

Inspired by the work of Serenity OS, this project will develop one or more GameBoy projects as an alternative to substance use/abuse.

Challenge Rules

These rules are not subject to changes that would loosen the challenge restrictions.

  1. Source code and progress must be publicly available.
  2. All projects must have an associated git repository.
  3. Other resources may be studied, but generally no copy/pasting is allowed from outside projects. Note: exceptions to this include hardware.inc, and other minimal hardware abstractions. Tool use, such as gcc, RGBDS, aseprite, devkitARM, etc. are also allowed.
  4. LLMs may not be used to generate or debug code.
  5. If a sobriety streak is broken, project progress is reset by adding a commit that deletes everything but the README.md. Therefore, looking at git history is disallowed between these points.
  6. Projects must be GameBoy related (from original up to GBA); they can be software, hardware, or both.

Code is found on the git site.
